About Gary Myles

With over 20 years of experience as a biotechnology patent attorney, Gary Myles provides comprehensive intellectual property services to clients in the life sciences and agricultural industries. He is the managing attorney at Myles Intellectual Property Law, a boutique firm specialising in client counseling, IP strategy, patent drafting and prosecution, licensing, portfolio evaluation, and dispute resolution. Gary brings a rare combination of deep scientific expertise and legal acumen to every engagement. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics from UNC School of Medicine — where his adviser was Aziz Sancar, recipient of the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry — and conducted postdoctoral research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. His areas of technological expertise include molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, immunology, nanotechnology, and personalised medicine. Before founding Myles IP Law, Gary served as a Shareholder at Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt, Of Counsel at Merchant & Gould P.C., and a Member at Lowe Graham Jones. He is also an active educator: he has taught Advanced Patent Law at the University of Washington School of Law since 2003, and taught Biotechnology and the Law at Seattle University School of Law for nearly a decade.
